Chapter 5: Bug Country
Complete walkthrough for all 6 habitats in Bug Country — every Smiley Flower, discovery, and Golden Bug location.
Behedger Habitat
A territorial hedge-like creature that hunts everything that trespasses. Its spiky body blocks paths but can be used as a platform.
🌸 3 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the spiky hedge creature guarding the jungle entrance with the Magnifying Glass.
2 The Behedger charges when Yoshi enters its territory. Jump over it as it charges — it crashes into the wall and gets stuck briefly.
3 While it's stuck, jump on its flat back to use it as a platform. Reach Smiley Flower 1 on the ledge above.
4 Go right. Lure the second Behedger into charging at the cracked wall — it breaks through, opening a new path.
5 Smiley Flower 2 is in the room beyond the broken wall.
6 Find the Golden Bug on the high branch. Lure a Behedger to charge under the branch, then jump on its back to reach the branch.
7 Go to the far right where two Behedgers patrol. Lure them to charge at each other — they collide and both get stunned.
8 Smiley Flower 3 appears when the two Behedgers collide.
9 Lure all three Behedgers to charge at the giant boulder at the end — they all crash into it together, shattering it. This is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
Swirm Habitat
A coiled snail-like creature that uncoils when touched by Yoshi. When fully uncoiled, it acts as a horizontal trampoline.
🌸 3 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the tightly coiled creature on the jungle floor with the Magnifying Glass.
2 Touch the Swirm — it uncoils rapidly and stretches out flat. Jump on it to bounce horizontally.
3 Bounce off the Swirm to the right — the horizontal launch carries Yoshi far. Smiley Flower 1 is on the platform you land on.
4 Find the second Swirm near the cliff. Touch it and bounce off to reach the high ledge. Smiley Flower 2 is there.
5 Find the Golden Bug on the far left platform. Touch the Swirm facing left and bounce to reach it.
6 Go right to the area with three Swirms in a row. Bounce off each one in sequence — each launch goes further.
7 Smiley Flower 3 is at the end of the three-Swirm chain launch.
8 Find the giant Swirm at the far right. Touch it — it uncoils into a massive trampoline. Bounce off it to fly across the entire jungle — this is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
Stickiwick Habitat
A sticky vine-like creature that helps Yoshi swing across platforms. Grab it and swing to gain momentum.
🌸 4 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the dangling vine creature hanging from the jungle canopy with the Magnifying Glass.
2 Jump and grab the Stickiwick (A near it) — Yoshi swings on it. Release at the peak of the swing to fly forward.
3 Swing across the first gap and land on the platform. Smiley Flower 1 is on this platform.
4 Find the next Stickiwick and swing to the high ledge. Smiley Flower 2 is on the ledge.
5 Find the Golden Bug on the platform across the wide chasm. Swing on the long Stickiwick to cross the chasm.
6 Go right to the area with multiple Stickiwicks in a row. Swing from one to the next without touching the ground.
7 Smiley Flower 3 is at the end of the Stickiwick chain.
8 Find the Stickiwick near the spinning platform. Swing on it and release at the right moment to land on the spinning platform.
9 Smiley Flower 4 is on the spinning platform.
10 Swing on all five Stickiwicks in the final area without stopping — this is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
Mawstalk Habitat
A plant-like creature that acts like a hammer. It can be slammed down onto other creatures and objects.
🌸 3 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the tall plant creature with a large mouth at the top with the Magnifying Glass.
2 Tail Flick to carry the Mawstalk. Press ZR to slam it down — it crashes onto the ground like a hammer.
3 Slam it onto the cracked ground to break through to the underground area. Smiley Flower 1 is underground.
4 Go right and slam the Mawstalk onto the large mushroom — it bounces Yoshi upward. Reach Smiley Flower 2 on the high platform.
5 Find the Golden Bug on the platform guarded by a Behedger. Slam the Mawstalk onto the Behedger to stun it, then grab the Golden Bug.
6 Go to the far right where a row of giant mushrooms is lined up. Slam the Mawstalk onto each one to bounce progressively higher.
7 Smiley Flower 3 is at the peak of the highest mushroom bounce.
8 Find the giant Mawstalk at the end. Slam it down onto the ground — the shockwave clears the entire area. This is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
Slugarang Habitat
A boomerang-shaped slug creature that Yoshi can gulp up and throw like a boomerang. It returns after hitting a target.
🌸 3 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the curved slug creature resting on the leaf with the Magnifying Glass.
2 Gobble the Slugarang (B) — Yoshi holds it in his mouth. Press ZR to throw it — it flies in a boomerang arc and returns.
3 Throw it at the Winged Cloud to the right — it hits and returns. Platforms appear. Climb up to Smiley Flower 1.
4 Go right and throw the Slugarang around the corner — it curves and hits the switch behind the wall. Smiley Flower 2 drops down.
5 Find the Golden Bug on the platform behind the barrier. Throw the Slugarang around the barrier to hit the switch that opens it.
6 Go to the far right where three targets are arranged in a triangle. Throw the Slugarang to hit all three in one throw.
7 Smiley Flower 3 appears when all three targets are hit in a single throw.
8 Find the giant Slugarang at the end. Throw it — it flies in a huge arc and hits every target in the area. This is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
Wooshwing Habitat
A hang glider-like creature with orange wings. Yoshi can use it to glide fast through the air.
🌸 4 Smiley Flowers 1 Inspect the hang glider creature perched on the high branch with the Magnifying Glass.
2 Tail Flick to carry the Wooshwing. Jump off the branch — Yoshi glides forward fast. Tilt the Left Stick to steer.
3 Glide right and collect the tokens in the air. Smiley Flower 1 is on the platform at the end of the first glide path.
4 Find the next Wooshwing on the high ledge. Glide down and left to reach Smiley Flower 2 on the lower platform.
5 Find the Golden Bug floating in the air. Glide through the air at the right height to grab it.
6 Go to the area with the wind current. Glide into the current — it boosts your speed dramatically.
7 Smiley Flower 3 is at the end of the wind current boost path.
8 Find the giant Wooshwing at the summit. Carry it and jump off — Yoshi glides at incredible speed.
9 Smiley Flower 4 is in the air along the giant glide path.
10 Glide all the way from the summit to the jungle floor without landing — this is the Big Discovery. Jump into the sparkly spot to finish.
